Our Story
Mental Health is the Foundation of Jobsite Safety.
4x5 was founded in 2022 by Canyon State Electric to confront a stark reality in Arizona’s construction industry: construction workers die by suicide at four times the rate of the general population and are five times more likely to die by suicide than from a workplace accident.
Behind these numbers are the tradespeople, foremen, apprentices, and teammates who keep Arizona building.
We are making mental health a non-negotiable part of jobsite safety culture statewide. Through our programs, 4x5 equips workers and leaders with the skills to spot signs of distress, start direct conversations, and connect peers to lifesaving care—reducing stigma and building a culture where asking for help is a sign of strength.
Our Mission
Prevent suicide in construction through practical training and resources that remove stigma, normalize help-seeking, and embed protective habits so people and companies thrive.
Our strategy
Peers are often the first to recognize changes in their teammates and 4x5 ambassadors are trained to connect and support early. If there is a crisis, ambassadors know how to persuade teammates to seek help and are prepared to refer them to professionals. These jobsite-based support networks reduce stigma, strengthen protective factors, and build a culture where mental health is everyone's responsibility.
