Become Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certified

Train to Save Lives

Mental Health First Aid is a training course that teaches individuals how to help those struggling with their mental health. This class will teach your crew how to recognize the signs and symptoms, have impactful conversations, and provide appropriate professional help to a person experiencing a mental health challenge.

Once a construction professional is MHFA certified, they receive a 4x5 Ambassador sticker that can be placed on their hard hat, indicating to their team that they are there to offer support and resources during difficult times. This initiative aims to promote the mental well-being of crews and end suicides in the construction industry for good.

You will learn how to:

  • Describe the purpose of Mental Health First Aid and the role of the Mental Health First Aider on construction sites.
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges that may impact your crew.
  • Explain the five steps of the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan.
  • Apply the appropriate steps of the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan when someone on your team shows signs of a mental health challenge.
  • Choose appropriate methods for self-care following the application of Mental Health First Aid in a crisis or non-crisis situation.
